Strengths - Discovering the Real You

Imagine you at your best.  It doesn’t matter which area of your life that you want to address, being your best at it will make you feel good.


One aspect of positive psychology is the study of strengths.  The value of realising your own strengths is one part of it; learning to identify strengths in others is another beneficial skill and then spotting strengths of your team or community can lead to good things!


There have been various different approaches as to how to define strengths.  One thing it is clear that it is not is ‘something you are good at’.  So, for example, if you were asked for your strengths and you replied ‘I’m very strong at accounts and my desk is always tidy’ - those are things that you do!  They might signal that you have certain strengths that lead to that behaviour such as good self-regulation.
